Umbrella afternoon
It was a late spring afternoon in Cambridge. Iād finished work at my computer for the day so headed into town hoping to sketch. It was cold, so I chose a cafe window for comfort. I started drawing that fantastic red bicycle, and then to my delight, it started raining! I love umbrellas, and I love rain.
Made in Scotland
Loved the beautiful red of this building, selling kilts made in Scotland. It felt like the perfect depiction of an Edinburgh street. Pen, Ink & Watercolour.
Swans
I wonder if they know how stunning they are? These lovely creatures made fairytale Bruges even more magical. Love their bright orange beaks and beautiful shapes - such a joy to sketch.
Chimneys of Paris
I love the rooftops of Paris. They are so just so unique. Finding places in the city to view them is a challenge. I made this drawing from the window of my sister's apartment - how I would love to live there!
those blue shutters
Shutters are another thing that the French do really well. This row of blue shutters just so perfectly complemented the terra cotta chimneys. I had to draw them.
Popping poppies
Tuesday afternoon
Paris tulips
Evening on my coffee table, planning my trip to Paris. These tulips and books about the romantic city were just longing to be drawn. Love the bright watercolour red!
Succulent shadows
Fig lane
It was a hot Melbourne evening but I stopped on my way home from work in this wonderful laneway to draw.
on my coffee table
Late at night on my coffee table, these things gathered - and seemed to look good together so I drew them.
Good shoes
Waiting for coffee
This guy just had such great attitude - the perfect addition to this sketch of this well known Melbourne cafe.
touristing
I made this sketch on an icy-cold morning in one of the most famous squares in the world. I loved the architectural contrast and the various poses the tourists made as they took photos of themselves and each other
thoe greens
Until I looked closely I don't think I would have realised that dahlias have a greenish centre. It matched just perfectly with the stems and also my teapot.
Vic Market breakfast
Early morning at the Vic Market is one of my favourite times to be there. People are usually peacefully doing their own thing. I was sketching the beautiful shop fronts when this guy came and ate his breakfast right in front of me - a perfect addition to the drawing!
winter market
In the midst of Melbourne's winter, the Queen Victoria Market opens at night time for people to gather together, eat, listen to music, shop and enjoy a warm atmosphere. I love drawing here.
Tea with Mirka
This is one of my favourite drawings. Sketched in my loungeroom one evening when I noticed just how great the dahlias looked behind my beautiful jacket, adorned with a pattern by Mirka Mora.
